Completely renewed webshop & smart search experience
My Tech Partner developed a completely redesigned WordPress/WooCommerce site for TapParfum, featuring a fresh design and powerful new features. From multilingual content to advanced search technology with React and Algolia, this project combines webshop optimization with a top-notch user experience.
About TapParfum
TapParfum is a pioneer in sustainable perfumery: an innovative refill concept that began as a market initiative in Leeuwarden and Groningen. The brand develops high-quality eau de parfums in-house, with fragrance concentrates ranging from 20 to 40 percent and odorless alcohol for a luxurious fragrance experience without the high price tag of traditional designer brands.
Customers can easily refill their perfume bottles through a national network of over 400 taps in shops and salons. This way, you only pay for the fragrance, not for unnecessary packaging. This approach makes TapParfum not only sustainable but also affordable and practical.
Since its inception, the concept has grown into a successful and growing formula. More and more customers are consciously choosing a perfume alternative that combines luxury with convenience and responsibility.

The challenge: a scalable, international experience
TapParfum faced several challenges: the existing website was limited in language options, scalability, and search functionality. Product data and variants needed to be cleaned up and expanded, while the visual presentation had to be both attractive and user-friendly. Furthermore, a smooth migration from the .nl to the .com domain was essential for the international SEO strategy.


A future-proof foundation for TapParfum
We started by rebuilding the entire site in WordPress and WooCommerce, based on a provided Figma design. For flexible content management, we implemented Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), allowing the TapParfum team to easily manage content themselves.
At the same time, we migrated the website from .nl to .com, a process in which we carefully applied redirects and SEO optimizations to maintain search engine authority.
The product catalog was significantly scaled up: over 1,200 products were imported, including variants. The product detail pages were redesigned with clear information, variation options, and clear calls to action.
We also developed special pages for entrepreneurs who want to start their own Tappunt. Interested parties can easily submit their information via a streamlined form linked to Hubspot, allowing TapParfum to provide targeted follow-up.


Smart Search with React and Algolia InstantSearch
We developed an advanced search module in React, using Algolia InstantSearch. This "instant search" provides immediate results as you type, including filters and images, both in the header bar and on a separate search page. This enhanced search experience allows visitors to quickly find their favorite fragrance, even among a large and varied selection.
Flexible content management and customer interaction
TapParfum now has a user-friendly, multilingual CMS linked to a store locator page that helps visitors locate physical taps. For every language: Dutch, English, and German, it's possible to independently manage events, blog posts, and product updates. Instructional videos support the internal team in managing content and the UI.

Faster and more stable thanks to server migration
To improve the performance and stability of the webshop, we advised TapParfum to switch from their previous hosting provider to a dedicated server. The previous environment offered insufficient speed and support, which was especially noticeable during peak periods. My Tech Partner managed the entire migration process: from advice and preparation to implementation and delivery. Thanks to the new server environment, the site loads faster, reliability has increased, and TapParfum is better prepared for further growth.
Result: User-friendly, powerful and scalable
The revamped webshop combines scalability and internationalization with a visually appealing and powerful user experience.
